The Photographs of Rosario Orona

Rosario Orona Sifuentes was a Mexican immigrant from Durango, Mexico. For decades, her family travelled back and forth between Mexico and Longmont, Colorado. In September 2025, she passed away, and her granddaughter discovered over 100 photographs of her humble life inside her home in Durango.

After discovering over 100 photographs and documents, Rosario Orona Sifuentes's granddaughter was able to answer many questions about her family's history. Among her grandmother's papers, she found birth certificates, old Colorado driver's licenses, farming records from her grandfather's farm in Mexico, voting cards, and more. These documents confirmed that her family had been traveling from Mexico to the United States since before her grandmother was born, and before the U.S. restricted migration between the two countries and enacted stricter border policies.
